Why do we do this?
in memory of SoCal racer, Steve Adler who passed away from a genetic disorder called a thoracic aortic dissection. We want to remind everyone the importance of knowing your genetic health history as it can save your life or a loved one's life.
Who Can Race?
ANYONE!!! The Adler Paddler has multiple divisions including a "Fun Race." If you don't have a board and would like to rent, arrangements can be made prior to race day, through STAND UP RENTALS LONG BEACH. In addition, PFD’s Personal Flotation Devices are required.
Racers have the option of paddling the short course: 2.8 miles, and long course 5.6 miles. Short course racers will perform 1 loop around Alamitos Bay while Long Corse racers perform 2 laps.
What else goes on at the Adler Paddler?
Every year is a little different, but you can always expect a super exciting paddleboard race with top competitors from all over California. In addition, our amazing sponsors Hurley, Future Fins, Infinity SUP, and Quickblade Paddles donate gobs of gear for a pretty epic prize raffle. What time should I be at the beach?
IF YOU DO NOT PRE-REGISTER, make sure you SHOW UP EARLY enough to register prior to our 9 am start time. All check-ins should take place before 8:30 am.
Race Day Registration will start as early as 7:30 am on site
There will also be a "fun paddle" that is FAMILY FRIENDLY which starts just after the “serious” racers. This will be just one lap at your own pace around Naples Island. If you have young children on your board make sure they have a life vest on.
T-Shirts & Raffles
Event t-shirts available in exchange for a $25 donation to the cause and we will be raffling off an INFINITY SUP board, Quickblade Paddles, Future Fins, Hurley gear, wetsuits, skateboards, and lots of gear from top brands in the surf and skate world. Bring your cash or Credit Card.
SMALL ITEM Raffle tickets: 1 for $5 or 5 for $20
(must be present at awards ceremony to win)
LARGE ITEM RAFFLE: 1 for $20 or 6 for $100
(do not have to be present to win large raffle items)
All proceeds of the raffle and event t-shirts benefit the John Ritter Foundation so they can continue to help with research, awareness, and support for families dealing with the aortic disease with help from the JRF genetic counselors.
